Preheat your smoker to 250°F .
Place the Lil Smokies sausages in a large bowl.
Pour the BBQ sauce over the Lil Smokies, ensuring they are thoroughly coated.
Sprinkle your favorite BBQ rub over the sauced Lil Smokies. Toss gently to ensure even coverage.
Place the sauced and rubbed Lil Smokies directly onto the smoker grate or in a smoker-safe dish.
Smoke at 250°F for 1 hour.
After an hour, remove the Lil Smokies from the smoker.
Add 1/2 cup of brown sugar and 4 tablespoons of butter, distributing them evenly over the sausages.
Cover the dish with aluminum foil to lock in the flavors.
Return the covered dish to the smoker and cook for an additional hour.
Remove the foil and give the Lil Smokies a good stir to mix the melted butter and brown sugar.
Place the uncovered dish back on the smoker.
Smoke for another 30 minutes to allow the BBQ sauce to firm up to your liking.
Remove the Lil Smokies from the smoker and serve hot.
